This workshop is designed for individuals struggling to face the holidays while grieving. We will explore common grief responses, holiday grief triggers, and strategies for getting through the holidays. Participants will learn ways to adjust holiday traditions to reduce the physical and emotional demands and will explore ways to honor the memory of the deceased in the holidays. Each participant will have the opportunity to make a commemorative ornament to take home. Seating is limited; registration required.

Perinatal Loss

This workshop will address the complicated grief of miscarriage, still birth, and neonatal death. Our goal is to provide a caring, understanding environment in which you can explore and normalize common responses to perinatal loss and learn coping strategies to lessen potential long-term negative consequences. 

You will learn:

  • Complicating factors for the grieving process with neonatal loss
  • Coping strategies for mother, father, and other children in the home
  • Differing male and female responses to this type of loss
  • Healthy ways to commemorate this child, while moving forward into the future

 

 

Suicide Loss

This workshop will explore complication suicide death brings to the grieving process. The goal is to provide a caring, understanding environment in which to explore the impact of suicide on survivors and learn coping strategies. 

You will learn:

  • Common responses for survivors of suicide, including guilt, questions, and harmful responses from others
  • Coping strategies for dealing with the complicated grief of suicide loss
  • Effective communication strategies for addressing the stigma surrounding suicide

Grandparent & Extended Family Loss

  • Interactive workshop will allow time for discussion and questions
  • Registration required prior to workshop date

This workshop is designed for parents/caregivers to provide education and suggestions for activities to assist children in dealing with the grief of a grandparent or extended family member. 

You will learn:

  • Common grief responses for different developmental ages
  • Strategies for communicating with children about loss
  • Activities to help children deal with loss and focus on memories of the deceased
