What is Children’s Grief Awareness Day?

  • November 16, 2017
  • A day designed to increase awareness of the impact that the death of a loved one has in the life of a child
  • An opportunity to recognize and support the thousands of grieving children in our community, and the grieving children we see and know in our daily lives
  • A day to ensure that these children receive the support they need during this difficult time

Why does Children’s Grief Awareness Day Matter?

A recent survey shows that 1 in 20 American children lose a parent before the age of 20. If grief remains unresolved, these children may become:

  • 5 times more likely to die from suicide
  • 9 times more likely to drop out of High School
  • 10 times more likely to engage in substance abuse

We live in a very supportive community. Thank you to everyone who supported grieving children on November 16, 2017!
